Neve 88RLB Preamp Demo And Review (Full Instrumental Mix + Voiceover)

To buy the Neve 88RLB: https://amzn.to/45udglp For everyone whos been asking, here it is. Thank you for staying on me. I've been so busy with projects and life stuff, so it took me a weekend off to get this going. I hope you enjoy. As I mentioned this is my favorite preamp, and one of my favorite pieces of gear. This thing simply rules. This entire song I wrote in a few hours, it was recorded with the Neve 88RLB wherever I could use it. On guitars, bass and synths. On everything else, I ran the existing track through the line to inject some of that Neve transformer fatness. I tried to stay away from super mixing, and editing like crazy so you can see the true colors of this preamp. I didn't want to make everything sound a certain way, so I tried to leave guitars very raw. Bass was tracked through a BLA Bluey into a Audioscape Opto Comp into the Neve 88RLB. No amp on the bass, just the compressed DI. Guitars were a V30 mic'd with a e906 using a Peavey 6505MH. Drums were God City Drums. Cowbell was a sample I had made a while back with a Meinl cowbell. Overheads are Superior Drummer. Acoustic is a Baby Taylor mic'd with a stereo pair of Beyerdynamic i53s. For all the comparisons, I was using a Radial splitter when needed. All guitars are amp sim'd here for the exact setting to compare between reg/no reg/hpf/stock pres. The 88RLB isn't a super colorful unit, but it's a 3D round, warm and very full sound. It just makes things sound better. You can hear several comparisons, and it's features that it offers that make it a joy to own. While certainly things the subtle for sure. They can make a huge difference in weight during mixing. This is like the REG feature and Hi Pass Filter engaged. They're two features that really add a bit more to your sound. Overall I try to touch base on just above everything this preamp offers. I tried to show stuff on guitars mostly. As that's where I feel these features make the most difference. As well as on voice over. This thing is universally applied to so many uses. It's such a workhorse, swiss army knife, all in one piece of gear that just simply sounds amazing. As well all voice over in this video is through the Neve 88RLB. 0:00 Intro 0:11 Produced Track Recorded With The Neve 88RLB 2:57 Opening Thoughts And Video Explanation 03:52 Neve Background And History Of Product 05:10 Explaining The 88RLB 8:00 How Does It Compare And Apologies For Delay On Review. 9:51 Front Panel Explanation 10:15 Build Quality 11:20 Signal LED 11:38 Gain Knob/Channel Selector 13:20 Reg Switch 14:31 High Pass Filter 18:19 48vs, 20db pad, and phase reversal features. 18:55 Front I/P 19:52 Ground Lift 21:00 Reg Button Vs No Reg Button On Guitars 21:20 No Reg Button On Guitars 21:40 Reg Button On Guitars 22:00 High Pass Filter Run-through On Guitars 23:30 Voice Over Neve 88RLB 24:27 Voice Over Stock Pre Motu 828ES 25:20 Voice Over Neve 88RLB 26:08 Voice Over Stock Pre Motu 828ES 27:06 Guitar Comparison 28:55 Bass Only 29:13 Kick Only 29:25 Snare Only 29:38 Kick And Snare Only 29:48 Drum Mix Only 30:03 Acoustic Guitar Only 30:55 Outro 30:24 Wrap Up And Goodbyes
