Vanilla WoW Hillsbrad wPvP [Gank Retaliation] 7-24-18
https://streamlabs.com/tw33n_swag/v2 This is being posted purely to preserve the fun and nostalgia of wPvP in Vanilla World of Warcraft. My roll in battle this was to coordinate, communicate and give battle orders, not rack up honorable kills. This role ultimately served as a decent screen to capture the fight on video so half way through, I began recording. _________________ Hillsbrad is often the center of many PvP battles. As someone strongly opposed to ganking (killing a player significantly lower than you, killing a player while they are attacking multiple npcs or running around in groups picking off solo questers) the occasional retaliatory attack on the opposing faction brews up. On this day, having been ganked to the point of having a 2 minutes resurrection timer while questing in Hillsbrad, I organized a wPvP group which originally was coordinating with the /general chat to locate alliance in the zone who were ganking Horde questers and getting revenge. As the groups grew, inevitably it turned into a Tarren Mill vs South Shore battle with each side pushing and retreating across the killing fields. What often determines the ‘winner’ in wPvP battles in levelling zones is the amount of level 60s each side pulls in, either from global defense or guild chat. This particular battle, the Horde had 1 level 60 for a brief time while the Alliance had several. In simple numbers, the Horde continually had an advantage by a small amount resulting in the majority of ‘control’ in the south section of the zone with the Alliance defending South Shore. If there could be a declared ‘winner’ of this battle, the Horde maintained control of the opposing faction’s side significantly longer than the Alliance despite the presence of their level 60 players. Their counter assault on Tarren Mill only lasted a few minutes before the Horde regrouped and pushed back south. However, the Horde was not successful in breaching South Shore itself as the majority of the participants were between level 20-35 and were picked off by the guards or Wind Rider. The end result was the Alliance calling in additional level 60s to push through the center of the mid level lines causing a collapse of the attack. After almost 2 hours of wPvP, the Horde decided to call it a day and conceded to the higher level Alliance players who by that time had several level 60s to the Horde’s zero. Whether or not a 'winner' could be declared, the main thing is that it was a very fun battle both for the Horde and Alliance; a fantastic break from the woes of ganking, the ‘less civilized’ form of wPvP. Thanks to everyone both Horde and Alliance who joined the ranks, let’s do it again! -Ellipsister, Northdale server, Light’s Hope July 24, 2018 p.s. I am a keyboard turning, backpedaling, default WoW display using, mouse binding, macro-less, clicking, normie and I am perfectly content with that. Having played WoW hardcore in the past, I play casual and for fun, not to be an elitist with a cancerous ego. Play for fun guys, it's a video game.
