Pivot Trail 429 Review - Blurring the lines between XC and Trail Bike
"Crazy fast meets ridiculously capable." Does that description fit this bike? Well, I can certainly say it's been pretty true for what I've put it through here in the OZ trails! This bike felt like an absolute rocket ship compared to the 5.5 and FB29. Head tube angle is just steep enough to give a solid XC feel, but everything else just screams trail bike! I hit all the standard go to's here in Bentonville: All American, Slaughter Pen, Coler, and a bit of the Back 40. The Trail was an absolute pleasure to hammer XC style, but also with flat pedals and hitting decent sized jumps! I think this would be a fantastic bike for someone looking to get a bit more aggressive, but wanting to maintain some XC capability. This stock XT/XTR build comes in at $6099 and screams value to me. I spent a great deal of time on this bike in completely stock trim and it worked very well. At this point, the following changes have been made: Industry Nine Trail 1-1 Wheels: https://industrynine.com/wheels/mountain/trail-1-1/ Cushcore Ultralight inserts Maxxis Rekon 2.4 EXO tires Industry Nine 40mm Stem: https://industrynine.com/stems/ Trust Message Fork: https://trustperformance.com/products/message My gear: Helmet - Kali Maya 2.0: https://kaliprotectives.com/products/maya-2-0 Use code drewbros20 for 20% off JUNK Headband and Socks: https://www.junkbrands.com/ Zoic Fall Line Flannel: https://zoic.com/fall-line-flannel+color-Red~Buffalo+size-Large Zoic Convertible Pant: https://zoic.com/bmc+color-Black+size-Large Please shoot me any questions you have about this bike, or any other in the Pivot lineup. Also, please let me know if you'd like to come visit the OZ Trails. 2020 will see The Ride Series MTB Skills Clinics growing substantially and we will be offering an "OZ Trails Experience" in the fall. Thank you for the support!!
