Exploring the Real Abandoned Castle Dracula | Abandoned Places Scotland EP 48
While you may have heard of one of the popular tourist sites like Poenari or Bran castle, associated with Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Tepes) or vampire legends, the real story and place that inspired Dracula is much stranger. In our newest exploration we take you directly to the abandoned crucible of the vampire, a creepy, Gothic castle like mansion in Scotland that actually inspired Bram Stoker to write the novel Dracula and spawned early films like Dracula 1931 and Nosferatu. This obscure, abandoned mansion, once the clan lands of the Hay family, clings to the cliffs over the sea, is tied to an unsolved murder and has claimed the lives of many of its modern visitors. I grew up in a creepy looking 1800s home that later became the abandoned "haunted house" of the town.
