Just A Shave: Wolfman WR1 SB .46 - Gillette 7 o'clock (Blk) (17) - DG Epiphenomenon - DG B9A TDR
Continuing my tour through my sampler of DG scents with this barbershop. Razor: Wolfman - WR1 Solid Bar .46 Blade: Gillette - 7 o'clock (Black) Super Platinum (17) Lather: Declaration Grooming Milksteak - Epiphenomenon Brush: Declaration Grooming - B9A That Darn Rob Red 24mm (3 uses) Post: Mennen - Skin Bracer (Vintage) *Razor and Blade Notes* - Wolfman - WR1 Solid Bar .46 ::: Gillette - 7 o'clock (Blk) (17 uses): This is a blade that has impressed me many times. Cuts easily and smoothly. However, this was not one of those times. Felt great toward the end though, and gave me a very nice close cut, with no irritation at all. So a little blade feel / scrapiness on pass 1 is quickly forgotten. *Soap Notes* - Declaration Grooming Milksteak - Epiphenomenon: Them: "Epiphenomenon is a big word that essentially means 'a secondary effect or byproduct.' After the demise of Bandwagon I didn't set out to create another 'barbershop' - a completely subjective, ill-defined faux genre that led to multiple existential crises on the subjectivity of scent and precisely how untrustworthy our noses can be. I had no plans to develop nor release another. However, the stars aligned, and while pursuing something far from the softly masculine, powdery scent that grew into Epiphenomenon...Epiphenomenon was born. It's powdery, inoffensive, and slots straight into my personal conception of 'barbershop.'" Me: Yes, I get the softly masculine, and powdery. By the end, I was loving this soap. I was only sad because I just got so little of it during the shave. Shoving my face in the bowl was the only real way I could appreciate the superbly crafted nuances in this amazing scent profile. I think there was a nice, fresh citrus hint in there. All these little pieces that helped to keep a few of the feminine notes from taking over the scent. So well-blended. Scent Strength: 3/10, very lightly present during shaving. Lather: Nailed it. This was excellent. Very well hydrated, and super slick. Hydration: Perfect (for me) * 0.2 tsp soap with a Lightly-Wet brush * 3.5 tsp added to make lather * = 5 passes of lather Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl I use the XL version of this bowl. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3392930 *Brush Notes* - Declaration Grooming - B9A That Darn Rob Red 24mm (3 uses): Was just a little better today in the backbone dept. But that may be me getting used to not trying to splay it as much.
