KID KART RACING! | Learning how to drive a Kid Kart at Orlando Kart Center | 6-years old | #karting
We recently took delivery of a one race old Top Kart Kid Kart racing kart, and this is a quick look at our first time driving it at Orlando Kart Center in Orlando Florida. With almost 3 years of motocross under his belt, we decided to expand Rennen's motorsports skillset and get into karting. Kid Karts is the youngest class and is designed for kids 5-8 years old to compete in almost identical karts designed for small kids. Low power 50cc engines provide low and safe speeds, and the karts have bumpers all around to protect from wheel-to-wheel contact. Our kart is a 2020 Top Kart model, previously used by Camdon Clay to win the Daytona Kid Kart championship race. It was ready to race as delivered and provided us with a great platform to jump into a well put together kart and setup. Rennen hasn't driven a kart on a track before, so we decided to hire the coaches at Orlando Kart Center to help Rennen understand the "whole picture", from the kart to the track. We felt this would be the best thing to do to start off as it's not always as effective when mom and dad have advice! (although dad has raced karts as a kid and Spec Miata racecars for the last 15-years!). Coaches Tim and Daniel were amazing with the group and Rennen, and after a few lead/follow sessions, said Rennen was doing great and could "fly solo". Dad and Poppo (grandpa) also got to turn some lead/follow laps to show Rennen the racing line, and of course to prove that they know what they're doing as well! We had a great day overall at Orlando Kart Center in our Top Kart Kid Kart, and plan to practice until they start the local race series back up this spring. We are also going to visit the other kart tracks in Florida such as Ocala Gran Prix, and Bushnell to start with, in hopes to prepare for the Daytona Kart Week in December.
