Elden Ring - Training with Malenia [10] (Waterfowl Dance Dodge Medium Load) NG6+ [Patch 1.05]
Taken directly from the Xbox One capture functionality. Video showing the first day of training with Malenia in order to dodge the Waterfowl Dance with Medium Load. No victory is looked for in this video, the objective is to learn how to dodge the Waterfowl Dance in conditions of Medium Load. These are the good attempts worth showing gathered in the span of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Done in NG6+ at level 320. The setup is not important, the only thing is that I'm running Medium Load. Apparently the idea is the same as the Light Load, except the window for the roll is much tighter now. I still have to figure out what the timing actually is. The best I could do for now is to avoid the entire flurry except 1 swing. I think I am able to consistently get hit only twice. Will also need to understand if the direction of movement is again completely straight-forward or this time the left stick must be tilted a bit to the left as well. In the video there are various cases: - I die: this happens either because I roll too late, or the direction in which I'm moving is completely wrong (e.g. it is too far to the right). When moving to the right, the number of hits taken amounts to be 4-5 depending on the timing on the roll. - I survive but take 4-5 hits: this is because I move to the right (while running around Malenia). - I dodge part of the first flurry: this is because the timing on the roll is good but not optimal and the direction towards I'm running is close to optimal. - I take 2 hits from the flurry: this seems to be consistently happening whenever I think to be running in a good direction with a good roll timing. - I take 1 hit from the flurry: it happened rarely but it is replicable in some way. I think the difference between this case and the one above is solely in the dodge timing. An interesting thing to notice is that one of the times I was able to get hit only once, I ran around Malenia, stopped briefly and then rolled. It was a mistake, but it looks like it could be something to work with. The rest of the combo is of no importance since the objective here is to dodge the first flurry. Also, I've noticed that sometimes when getting hit twice only from the first flurry it looked like it was possible to dodge in between the swings, I've tried it (albeit only once) but it didn't work. Another thing to do is to either try to input another roll immediately after a good one, or step back. The difference I've noticed between Medium Load and Light Load is that even though in the first case it looks like the dodge is right since it looks almost identical to the Light Load one, the distance made is not sufficient to be completely safe. This leads me to believe that the window on the roll is much tighter for the Medium Load.
