Final dimensions: 48"(length) x 20.25"(width) x 25"(height) Materials: Legs: 4x4x23.75" douglas fir (x4) Front/back horizontal supports: 2 x 4 x 39 5/8" douglas fir (x6) Side horizontal supports: 2x4x12" douglas fir (x6) Shelf slats: 1x4x14.75" pine firring strip (x22) - cut these to length AFTER the frame is assembled Wood glue 2" and 1.5" screws 1.5" brad nails How to build: I built a front a back frame by attaching the front horizontal supports to the legs using pocket holes and glue. I spaced the top and the bottom shelf equally. *NOTE* - I used some strips I ripped from the table top to raise the shelfs to fit a little back from the legs Next, I assembled the side supports in similar fashion using pocket holes and glue. I think cut the strips used earlier to length and glued/nailed them on the main horizontal frame to be used as shelf support. I attached the slats as shelving using glue and brad nails. I cut corners out of the far side pieces using my table saw (I forgot to record this part). The table was then painted using Valspar antique white paint with my HomeRight Super Finish Max sprayer. I crosscut a 2x12x8' to ~48" and then ripped the edges straight using my table saw (I did this step earlier actually, this is where the strips used prior came from). I glued the top boards together using poplar dowels after using a doweling jig to drill holes in each board. I stained the top with Minwax Jacobean. To attach the top, I made table buttons from some spare red oak, and routered groves in the top frame board using a straight router bit. I used regular construction screws for the table buttons and attaching the top. The table buttons will allow for wood movement without any cracking. Finally, I finished the top with Minwax gloss polyurethane. This will protect the top and also provide a nice shine to the stain. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe for more!
