Mt. Sniktau and Grizzly Peak - Colorado 13er Dayhike
The alpine scenery in the Front Range is breathtaking enough, but it's not until you make it to Loveland Pass that you really begin to feel that Rocky Mountain magic. The gateway to Summit County, the pass is flanked by a ski resort on either side – Loveland and Arapahoe Basin – and offers easy access to above-treeline hiking in the summer months. Accessible from the Loveland Pass parking lot, the short, 2-mile jaunt to Mt Sniktau (13,234ft) is a relatively easy hike and a good way to experience the thrill of hiking above the treeline without having to work (too much) for it.
