BAC Mono FLIR One Pro Thermal Imaging Camera
Using a Teledyne FLIR One Pro thermal camera to show how quickly a BAC Mono warms its exhaust manifold (answer very quickly!) The parts of the exhaust that appear not to heat up are actually behind heat shields and you can see just how effective these are. It's also interesting to see how well contained the heat is in what is a very crowded engine 'bay' Thermal management in race style cars is a big issue. It cools down fairly quickly as well as it is a lightweight exhaust. I need to find a car with an Inconel exhaust to compare it with (and a kind owner who doesn't mind me partly dismantling their car!) Thermal cameras are great for monitoring engine performance and cooling issues.
