"Surfboard Wax" Moon Base M3 2/19/17
Here's my favorite improvised jam of 2017 so far! Click Show More for the full description: Why do I like it? Strymon BigSky Reverb + Source Audio Lunar Phaser on cornet sounds like a 1970s time-warp, the organ solo sounds so frigging great, the delicately pretty breakdown, the slow handoff from cornet to guitar solo, the nice conga presence throughout, and the humorous tamborine outro. That's a jam people. Moon Base M3: Duke Hunter on congas/aux percussion George Eleftheriou on keys John Bescup on cornet/trumpet +effects, recording/mastering/video Josh Matranga on bass Phillip Pound on drums Vitor Pacheco on guitar There are a number of "firsts" going on here: First recording I've posted on YouTube of a session from 2017, first session I played with Vitor and Duke, first conga player I've had over in the last couple years, since I upgraded to multitrack, first time the Hammond M3 organ in my living room was connected directly to the Leslie for that genuine organ tone which is often imitated but never replicated (ain't nothing like the real thing!), first time I got George to come over for a jam session that wasn't the Acropolis, first recording I've posted on YouTube since upgrading the drum overheads to Cascade Fat Head 2 ribbon mics (major step up), and first video where I've blended Milkdrop visuals synced with the track + Liquid Light Show that I made + some cool surf footage that I borrowed.
