The d4 c3 Anti-Sniper For Pub Chess Bluffers
In this friendly game White opened with 1.d4 and I responded with ... g6, following Charlie Storey's Sniper method... At least, that was my intention until Dr. M offered 2.c3 and 3.g3 as a possible "anti-sniper" set up. 1. d4 g6 2. c3 is not an opening that Charlie Storey discusses in his book, The Sniper, almost certainly because 2. c3 is not the strongest move by white in any circumstance. Anyway, I ploughed on and it led to an interesting exchange that placed the White queen on the a1-h8 diagonal, causing me a lot of problems, not helped by a series of weak moves that should have led to a White victory. However, White failed to find the way to checkmate and I went on to win, an undeserved victory when you look at my middle game blunders, but that's the nature of bluffer's chess! Enjoy and be sure to avoid our blunders if you find yourself in a similar situation. :-) David Hurley https://easychesstips.com The Sniper by Charlie Storey is available on Amazon.com: https://amzn.to/2LbtBTU *** DISCLAIMER: This video and description contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links, and then make a purchase, I’ll receive a small commission.
