13 Carholme Road, Lincoln Then and Now, and a plea from the heart!

Apologies for the plea from the heart at the start of the video, but it had been bugging me for a while, now on to the main subject of the video... This is one of those time shifts where nothing survives today from the old photo, so the only way I could line it up was to work from comments about the old photo from when it appeared on a local Facebook history group, and compare old maps with modern aerial photos. The view is looking across Carholme Road in the West End of Lincoln from close to the Horse and Groom pub. The old photo is undated but looks very early 20th century? It shows the shop that once stood at 13 Carholme Road (back then known as Gas Street). The narrow cobbled street on the right was known as Gouley Row on one side and Holland Row on the other side. They were demolished in the early 1970s to make way for Derek Miller Court flats. I spent my childhood in this area of Lincoln and remember lots of narrow cobbled streets similar to this. Depot Street, just round the corner, still exists, but most have gone the way of this one. My grandparents lived on West Parade at this time, and my father was born there in 1921. I'm sure they would all remember the old shop.
