The year was 1996(ish). The computer was a 486 PC running Windows 95. DOOM had been released a few years earlier and Quake was just around the corner (as well as the idea of looking up and down in a 3D shooter), and probably too much for our family PC to handle. My parents bought me the most nerve-wracking game I had ever played up until that point: Ultimate DOOM. This version included the additional "Thy Flesh Consumed" episode. Fast-forward to the present day 2023, about 27 years later. I'm a grown-ass man forced to reconcile with the fact that he has never played the entire game WITHOUT CHEAT CODES.
