DIY Banana Bread Hamster Treats
In this video I will be showing you how to make DIY banana bread hamster treats. These treats are not hard like many hamster treats, they are soft and spongy so that even older hamsters can eat them without any trouble. Due to these treats being soft, they still have a lot of water in them so they last for, I would say, about a week or two in the fridge. Always check if the treats are still fresh before feeding of course! Recipe: ~ 1/4 of a banana ~ 2 Tablespoons of oats ~ 1 Tablespoon of flour ~ 2-3 Tablespoons of water ~ 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder A note on baking powder: ~ Baking powder is safe in small amounts for hamsters as it is weaker than baking soda. You can search this up if you want to know more, but from my research on hamster forum websites, it is fine for hamsters. ~ I started the recipe by adding 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder, but I doubled that part (as mentioned In the video) so the amount ended up being 1/4 teaspoon. Instructions: 1. Add oats and about 2 Tablespoons of water to a bowl (more water equals more watery oatmeal plus more time in the microwave). microwave for 30-60 seconds until water is evaporated. 2. Add in banana and mush up the mixture with a fork very thoroughly. 3. Add in the flour and baking powder and mix. 4. Place batter in a muffin tin or in a small DIY foil pan. 5. Cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius) for 12-15 minutes. 6. Let cool and let your hamster enjoy!
