How to create a mac arp table for IDF migrations!

Before each cutover every engineer should create a mac_arp table and ping all the devices that are connected to the access switch. Same table will be used to ping all devices once the migration is completed. For these steps you will need Microsoft Excel and PingInfoView installed in your PC. Step 1 – Grab arp table from CutExp-Core (192.168.1.1) - show ip arp. Step 2 – Grab mac table from CutExp-Acc1 (192.168.1.101) - show mac address-table. Step 3 – Create mac_arp table using Microsoft Excel. Go to  Data  Text to Columns  Fixed width  Next. Go to  Formula  Lookup & Reference  VLOOKUP  - Lookup_value – select entire row of mac addresses from mac tab. - Table_aray – select both rows of mac and IPs from arp tab. - Col_index_num – insert 2. - Range_lookup – insert false. - Step 4 – Ping all devices using PingInfoView. Step 5 – Use Snipping Tool to capture the Pings.
