SEEKING ECOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS: ideas and conversations
This is the talk presented by James Merryweather (me) at the Catchment Vegetation Workshop, Kinlochewe, 26th April 2023. All I have done is add my narration to the slides and turned the whole lot into an MP4 file, uploaded to YouTube. I still feel a bit apologetic about this presentation, which barely had a coherent theme, but then its purpose was to provoke and inspire, all packed into a twenty-minute slot. After the talk, a group of us held a conversation which exposed (as usual) the quantity of knowledge we lack about the ecology – and for some people application – of mycorrhiza. I finished my work and retired over twenty years ago, so although I am not ashamed to carry a flag for the ecology of mycorrhiza – which not many people do – some aspects of my presentation will be either out-of-date or unknown to me because of progress. I hope the majority of the ideas and assertions in the presentation are correct.
