The Principles of Communism, by Frederick Engels
Written in 1847 but unpublished until 1914, this book covers the most fundamental tenets of Marxism, Communism or Scientific Socialism from the perspective of one of its founding theoreticians. Although its publication was dropped in favor of the Manifesto, in my opinion this book is by far the superior introduction to Marxist ideas for a contemporary audience.
