Fungus mite?
This small mite (I think?) was crawling around inside an old, dried gall from a coyote brush stem gall moth (Gnorimoschema baccharisella). When my son broke open the gall, we saw those ovoid yellow nodules inside; I'm guessing those are some kind of fungus. After a while, I noticed a small, pale yellowish critter crawling around in there. Maybe some kind of fungus mite in the order Mesostigmata? The gall itself was about 8 mm in diameter. The yellow ovoid nodules were about 0.8 mm in the longer dimension, and about 0.4 mm in the shorter dimension. My (very rough) estimate is that the mite was about 0.3 mm long.
