John Jay Criminal Justice Police and Community Relations Forum
The NY and NJ chapters of the Association of Black Psychologists Recent instances of police-involved killings within our community--including Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Akai Gurley, and Tamir Rice--have increased polarization of race relations in the United States. As a community, it is important for us to come together to discuss these events. This panel and community forum will provide an opportunity to address: divisions between communities of color and the police; divisions within communities of color; divisions between police and local government; and Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) as a collective healing strategy.
