Canon Vixia HF S10 vs. Sony CX550V Handycam - side by side FULL FRAME version
One after another ver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0G3dKVcXn8 Side by side version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPh-wrS_xXY Everything set to Auto. Both recorded in 1080 - 60i / 24M and scaled down for youtube. Canon pros: Image is SHARPER...especially noticeable outdoors; auto focus is better; takes good video and pics outside, especially on a tripod. Canon cons: Image stabilization is lame; lens is too narrow, especially noticeable for indoors; Colors look a little drab indoors with photo and video. Sony pros: Image stabilization is killer!; Wide angle lens; Better color saturation, especially noticeable indoors. Sony cons: Image not as sharp. Autofocus is slow to adjust when you walk indoors with the camera. The Sony has a touch screen which I like a lot better, and I also like how you can make a 'favorites' menu. Overall I like Sony's interface better. I do, however, really like the continuous photo feature on the Canon. Overall, I'd say the Canon is the better camera for outside and if you don't plan on walking while filming. Otherwise Sony is better due to it's awesome stabilization system and is better for indoors due to better low light capabilities and the wider angle lens. Also, the colors look better inside than that of the Canon and the loss of sharpness is not quite as noticeable.
