Let's Play Quake Remastered #10: Third Chapter Woes
This video has been content ided, meaning I have no control over if and where adverts are placed and I earn no money from said ads. Please consider supporting me through Patreon instead. By the time you've reached the third chapter, it's safe to presume that you have a good handle on the game. You know how the weapons work, what your foes can do and are capable of dealing with the latter using the former. With that in mind, the developers sought to take off the kid gloves at this point and throw some pretty tricky situations at you from the get-go while giving you enough to deal with. Whether you deal with it well or not depends on your knowledge of the initial levels and general player skill, the first I'm utterly lacking in and the latter I'm only moderately lacking in, in my opinion. Of course, you could just pick this episode first and throw yourself into the proverbial deep end. There's nothing stopping you from tackling the episodes in any order, though the difficulty curve was certainly designed with you following the episode order. That was probably one of the things that drew me away from Quake in my youth; I played the first episode a lot via shareware but when I got the full release, I ended up trying the fourth episode first a lot which was naturally too much for me to handle. Older and perhaps a little wiser, I'm taking things in the order they're meant to be played.
