RIP My new LG 48" C1 OLED Defective after several hours of use - Horizontal lines - Messed up color
I recently bought an LG 48" C1 ( OLED48C1PUB ) to be used as a TV for watching shows and as a computer monitor for editing videos. Not many glossy monitors with good specs nowadays and I figured this TV should do the trick. Did a quick video showing the issues. Everything was perfect but then something strange happened. While attached to my PC, I turned the TV off and then several minutes later, I turned it on again and to my surprise the colors are messed up and you see horizonal lines. Also, theirs a big difference in the colors between the standard color option and the Reduce Blue light option. 2 minute mark of the video is when I switch to the Reduce Blue Light. Luckily, I'm still within my return window. Did not get the extended Best Buy warranty but once they have stock again, I think I'll have more peach of mind if I do get it. LG is expected to release a new firmware update. Would be nice if it happens within a day so I can try it out before I return it. I installed the TV on my rolling TV stand with someone very carefully. Wanted to be easily able to put it behind my desk while working or next to my bed while watching a TV show. Makes things more convenient. Going to be a hassle taking it off, putting it back into the box and return it to a local Best Buy. Since non of the Best Buys near me had it in stock, it had to be mailed from another state. Will be days until I'll be able to get a replacement unfortunately. I do admit that I have updated the firmware manually prior to the incident but everything was fine. I hope that didn't cause it. Definitely true that it's better to have the TV update it. I didn't want to hook the TV up to the internet. Anyone else had problem with the C1 or G1? Read on Reddit that someone had a similar issue with a G1. I'm still in shock that this happen since the picture looked very good and no noticeable banding. Was thrilled that it appeared that I won the TV lottery and then bam!!, this happens. If anyone is interested, I can give an update after I return it. Hopefully everything goes smooth.
