Kilimanjaro are both the highest mountain and volcano on the continents of Europe and Africa, I climbed them twice to respect the fact that they were two separate mountaineering challenges. December 9, 2018, upon reaching the summit of Mount Ojos del Salado (3rd attempt) in the Atacama Desert of Chile, I became the 9th and oldest person in the world at 71 years 235 days to accomplish both mountaineering feats. I have applied to GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS to be recognized as the ‘OLDEST 7 SUMMITS & VOLCANIC 7 SUMMITS’ and am awaiting verification. Summiting Mt. Aconcagua January 23, 2006, unknowingly I embarked on a lifestyle and huge challenge of my life that would see me travel to the far corners of the world and all continents including Antarctica, not once but twice, to realize my goals. This determination, persistence and resilience shone a bright light on my passion for life and my love of this extraordinary planet. I will forever be indebted to all my climbing teammates, partners, and all those who were so instrumental in making each climb possible.
