Federal Signal 2001-SRNB SirenTest In Attack, Columbia SC
[Sorry for late start; Dominion decided to activate 3 minutes early] One of Ten total SRNBs installed below the Lake Murray Dam, located around Residential Irmo and adjacent West Columbia, These Inundation Sirens were installed by power company SCE&G (now Dominion) in the event of a catastrophic failure of the dam. I believe these were installed around 2004, when the infamous “Backup Dam” project was completed. These sirens are tested in Attack on the Second Tuesday of each month at 12PM for 1 minute, 3 minutes for the Annual January test. As far as I know, they only serve as Inundation sirens. These don’t go off during Tornado Warnings or any other Emergencies, though that may change with the increased amount of stronger tornadoes making their way further east the last few years, Hence, Lexington County does not have Storm Warning Sirens.
