What If The Phoenix Suns Selected Luka Doncic?
In the 2018 NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns had the opportunity to select any prospect they liked. With prospects like Luka Doncic, Marvin Bagley, Jaren Jackson Jr, as well as many other great players on the board - Ryan McDonough picked hometown Phoenix product Deandre Phoenix of Arizona. During the 2018-19 season, Ayton would make All-Rookie First Team after an assertive rookie season, but not long after, the 3rd overall pick from 2018 ran away as the definite best player. Just three years in, Luka Doncic was the 2019 Rookie of the Year, a 2x All-Star, and a First Team All NBA player. A top 10 player, at the point guard position - a position of severe need for the Suns back in 2018. Hindsight is always 20/20 - but the possibility of a Luka Doncic Devin Booker backcourt makes me think: What could have been? What if the Suns did go with their head coach's former player rather than the hometown kid? If you'd like, you can support me on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/tortorelli
