The Temptations | The Ed Sullivan Show | First appearance | 56th Anniversary
Today in music history...on this day 56 years ago back in 1967, The Temptations made their iconic very first appearance on one of the most iconic TV shows in the world, the infamous "Ed Sullivan Show!" The Temptations perform a medley of their classic hits, as they were, "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue?)," "All I Need," which was their newest hit at the time, "My Girl," and the closure with their latest hit "I Know (I'm Losing You)." Otis said that on their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan, they were very nervous, and who wouldn't be! Being on the Ed Sullivan show was, as what Otis says, the first time they felt like they finally made it. Performing on the show wasn't no joke. He said you had to rehearse real good, because when showtime comes, if you miss a step, or sing in the wrong tone, the whole world is gonna see it. No playbacks or redo recording, it was a one and done deal, unless there was something wrong with the audio, then they'll have them do lip sync. The Temptations surely made history that day. An absolute iconic performance from those five-talented young guys! 🎥: @TheEdSullivanShow ~ #thetemptations #temptations #temptationsforever #edsullivan #edsullivanshow #davidruffin #eddiekendricks #paulwilliams #melvinfranklin #otiswilliams #girlwhyyouwannamakemeblue #allineed #mygirl #imlosingyou #motownlegends #motownvintage #motown #motownrecords #motownclassics #oldiesbutgoodies #60smusic #60snostalgia #60svibes #60svintage #60s #60sstyle #60sfashion
