Old Early 2000's Taekwondo Tournament Footage Of Me Sparring
My fight ends at 3:20 of this video. The other guy fighting the same guy after that was my friend. This was an old tournament in Louisville, Kentucky I competed in. It was held by a local YMCA Taekwondo club. I had to spar this tall guy and I had acid reflux problems that day. Sucked for me. But if you watch closely and understand the scoring system for Olympic rules TKD as well as LEGAL target areas it is obvious I should have been declared the winner. When you go to small tournaments and you are an outsider the judges always favor their own people and friends. 1. I hit the guy in the head multiple times over and over 2. He only hit my head maybe twice the entire match 3. he punched my head and was not called a foul (and it was obvious he did it) 4. He kicked low a lot (illegal target) 5. I gave him a standing 8 count because I kicked his face really hard and dazed him 6. I had an acid reflux reaction for a second which probably made me look weak 7. I blocked almost everything he thew at me and deflected him from scoring. 8. Around this time sparring matches in this rules set never often went past 3-4 points. Matches are usually like 2-0 or 3-1 etc...this was scorred 13 to 11. Shows you how stupid the judges were. 13 points? Really? I know I was the better fighter and had cleaner technique and hit way harder and should have won. But whatever...they gave me bronze since they gave another guy a bi. Such is life... Oh and the 2nd guy fighting him was a fly weight and extremely short. You see him get knocked down really hard. The guy filming this was dumb and turned off the camera and missed a flying spin kick that smacked the tall guy right in the face and bruised his face. Yet he still won since he scored more points but he went away with pain. Good job short buddy! I was getting pissed because I knew the judges were giving him stupid points and i was trying to knock the guy out, that is why he got a standing 8 count. Yet I still lost? Whatever...
