"Hakko ichiu" or simply «eight corners of the world under one roof» is a political slogan of Japan that became popular during the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II. This motto was de facto an ideological justification for Japan’s aggression against other peoples, confirming its claim to world domination. The historical Japanese state, which existed from the restoration of Meiji on 3 January 1868 until the end of World War II and the adoption of the modern Constitution of Japan on 3 May 1947. From 29 August 1910 to 2 September 1945, the Japanese Empire within its internationally recognized borders included directly the territory of present-day Japan, Korea, Taiwan, South Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. Japan also had a mandate territory in the Pacific and some concessions in China. After the country’s surrender during World War II all the above-mentioned territories were separated from Japan, thus bringing the country to its current geographical position (this is by the way to the word about the Japanese pretensions on Kuril...) #japan #japanempire #Therisingsun #japan #history #history #music #aimusic #china #korea
