Before you buy a camera you need to figure out what type of photographs you are going to be taking the most. Are you going to be indoors taking pictures of your kids or outdoors taking more scenic photos. Maybe you are going to take your camera out at night to photograph the stars, moon or lightning. You might be the on the go type of person that wants to capture moments as they happen. Deciding on the type of photography you will do most will help direct you to the type of camera that will be best suited for you. Point and shoot, DSLR, and mid range cameras all serve different photographic needs. A point and shoot camera is more for the casual user that wants to carry something small and capture moments as they happen. You are able to capture a good photograph and share that moment with family and friends. The DSLR user is someone that may have an interest in learning more detail about the art of photography and wants the control that is available with a DSLR. Regardless of what type of user you are, attaining the basic photographic skills to take a great photograph with any camera will prove to be well worth it. With a little photographic knowledge and the time to improve your skills you will be taking better photographs in no time.
