Surface of Mars
Mars is an amazing place. These are images from the MOC (Mars Orbital Camera) which was launched on 7 November 1996 and reached Mars on 12 September 1997. The camera had the ability of photographing objects on the surface as small as 1.4 meters (4.6 ft.). The MOC continued to send high resolution images for the next 10 years providing us with our first up-close look at this most amazing planet. The MOC had since been replaced by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter which is currently sending images of even higher resolution.
