2019 OM642 Mercedes Sprinter Compensation Ring Replacement
2019 Sprinter 2500 OM642 3.0 V6 Diesel 4x4 Standard Roof The service record for my vehicle shows previous owner (original) had fuel filter changed at ~20,000 miles by MB. I changed my fuel filter the other week at ~42,000 miles but omitted to check on or change out the compensation ring. There was no noticeable issues at that time and I was not yet educated on it as an item that needed replacing at the time of replacing the fuel filter. Note: It is my understanding that it is only required to replace the compensation ring if you remove the last air duct into the turbo unit (which provides better working space for fuel filter removal/replacement. Genuine MB Compensation Rings are available via amazon and eBay at ~$30. This time I got mine from my local MB dealership for $40+tax. MB Part Number 000-094-00-51 This video starts after I have moved the air filter assembly out of the way for access to the turbo unit area. The compensation ring I took out looked in good condition. It was complete. It was pliable. No tears. No brittleness. Part of me feels it was fine and didn't need replacing. I am not familiar with a nasty looking compensation ring to compare against though.
