The Kuchi
History of Kuchi tribe. The Kochi tribe are one of the major tribes of Afghanistan, a very nomadic although they claim to be from ancient warriors of Kushans but from many evidence which points out that Kushans belonged to a mega tribe of Asia known as "The Saka". Nevertheless the are many tribes within Afghanistan which claim to be descendants of "Saka" known in Indian texts as "Shaka" but there are two major and populated tribes that can brings together the two far divided tribes closer then ever. The confederated mega tribe of Abadaliates (Approximately 10-13 million individuals today known as Durrani) and the Mega Ghalzai (9-11 million individuals also known as Ghalji, Ghilzi) , the sub tribes within both Confederacy tribes claims to have links with one and another. From the Durranis there are alone a single tribe of 2.5 million individuals belonging bear the name Sakazai or (Known to Iranians as Sagzi). The Sagzi belongs to Western branch of Durrani known as "Panjpai" meaning the the "Five"-Panj "Alive" Pai. There are approximately 8 million people belonging to this branch living in Eastern Part of modern Iran, Western Part of Afghanistan. Although both ethnic tribes (Durrani and Ghalzai) would dislike to hear that both of them share the name of an ancient tribe "Scythians", and most likely to dispute in terms of claiming the whole tribe as their own. However one does study their tribal names, the local folklores and the family trees of these tribes would come to a conclusion that there are sub-tribes within both mega tribes whom share same ancestral links. Indeed the nomadic Kuchi tribe being the only one of its kind living in the same condition as thousands of years ago, owning land in north and south for their seasonal pasture, breeding, etc can be well suitable to Kushans and their style of living. Dispute owning a huge land the Kushans for some long time did not bother to build a firm capital. The Kushan empire were famous for their nomadic live style. There are tribes within kuchi which claims to be direct descendants of the loyal family the founders of Kushani empire. Further more the name "Kuchi" fits well with the description of "Chinese" historians and Buddhist Monks which often mentioned the word "Yuchi" or "Houchi" there is no doubt that Chinese description of Yuchi and modern Kuchis same or one. Indeed there many other tribes who bears the name "Saka" but Sakazai being over 2 million (If the Durrani claim of Ashakzai or Ashakazai being Saka is really true then it would surpass population of 4 million) is a well example of how there are large number of People with as high as the city of Barcelona the 2nd largest city of Spain. Therefore we shell conclude that Sakazai a major well known Western tribe of Abdalaite confederacy and 2.5-3 million Kuchi of Ghalzai confederacy belongs to the same Ancient tribe of "Aryana" the Sakas famously known as "Scythians", whom once lived in the region known as "Sakastan" a regional name dated back to be known by this name some more then 3000 years old. Aside From Nomad Ku chi there are many other Tribes who bears the name Saka the Biggest ones are mentioned included those who have greater populations such as fallows Sagzi (Sakzai)(Panjpai), Eshakezai or Ishakazai (Panjpai), Saka Khel (Belong to Kakar tribe but their population have not been known), and Atsakzai (Zehrak). It Shows that Regardless what had Happened During Islamic Era or Before there is denying that Modern Tribes belonging to so many Tribes and from the two confederacies once belonged to one tribe that has been widely mentioned in Both Re Vada Awesta Gathas and many historical sources that the region (From Quetta/Zabul/Ghazni/Kandahar/Helmand/Nimroz the land of some 22 million individuals belonged to a nation of Sakas called Sakastan. From Which total of 6-8 million alone can be traced back from these 4 tribes (Sakzai/Saka Khel/Eshakazai/and Atsekzai) above all of which calls Sakastan their homes, (Exclude Ku chi's in amongst since they are more of Northerners and trace themselves to Kushans)
