Be A Friend to Monarchs and Other Pollinators
In this webinar, Kitty Sanders presents on the life cycle and migration patterns of monarch butterflies. Kitty also discusses the plant species that are important to these and other pollinators in Northwest Arkansas. Kitty Sanders is the Butterfly House Mentor at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. When Kitty retired from teaching high school social studies she began volunteering with the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville. When the Garden opened the Butterfly House, Kitty discovered that her new teaching career would be sharing information about butterflies and pollinator gardening with the public. It was during this time that Kitty became involved with the Master Gardeners and the Master Naturalists. Her work with these organizations enhanced her love for plants, and now she finds herself completely engrossed in the study of native species. Kitty has also been involved with the Arkansas Monarch Conservation Partnership (AMCP) for the past several years. Her work with AMCP has led to her study of plant species that attract monarchs and other pollinators. Kitty's involvement with these various organizations has led her to a greater appreciation of the cycles of nature, as well as a desire to inspire others, especially children, into being good stewards of natural world.
