Boot Time/ Turn On Comparison of Ipad Air 9.7" Versus Nook hd+ 9". Boring Useless Video
Disclaimer: Boring and useless Video. Who really cares about which tablet boots up the fastest. Anyways.. I did this test just because I can. Almost everyone leaves their tablets on now... I don't know too many people who does this to save battery since these tablets can last for days on idle. Disclaimer: Boring Video. I made this video to highlight the physical differences between the two tablets Ipad Air $499 vs Nook HD+ $150. Whereas one is a 9.7" tablet.. the other is a 9" tablet. The price difference is about $350. So for $350, one would expect a huge gap in performance, no? This video does not cover performance,... it just cover's the actual physical differences between the two. The ipad air is a thin 7.5 mm whereas the nook hd+ is a thin 11.4 mm. This is a 52% since difference in thickness. But visually.. can you really tell the difference? More importantly, is the difference in weight.. the ipad air weighs 478g versus the nook hd+ which weighs at 515g. That's only a 7.8% difference in weight... almost negligable or unnoticeable by most individuals. Anyways... I thought it was interesting. The nook hd+ screen res is 1920 x1280 versus the ipad air's retina display of 2048x1536. When you have a 10" tablet... in my limited opinion... HD .. ie 1080p will look great.. and anything more than this has negligable quality boost. Now if you had a computer monitor that was 27" and running that screen resolution of 2048x1536, then I'd say you're gonna see a great difference... but here we're talking about tiny 10" and 9" displays. To me this is all marketing. Last of all, you'll notice that there is no camera's included on the nook hd+. Most people cannot live without facetime or skype (which is odd since alot of people have iphone 4's or newer) but it's all good. I can live without camera's since I rarely use the camera's on tablets... do you really want to be that annoying person taking photo's with their tablet impeding on everyone's space and view? Overall... I'm impressed by both tablets. The best bang for your buck is Nook HD+. If you can afford an ipad air.. then go for it!
