Steube explains how H.R. 2258, the Protecting Higher Education from Foreign Threats Act, takes a strong step to limit the influence of China on our colleges and universities. Confucius Institutes are organizations at universities and colleges funded in part by the Chinese Communist Party that offer Chinese language and culture instruction; however, under the guise of education China is using these institutes to infiltrate our education system. H.R. 2258 would prohibit colleges and universities from receiving federal funding if they accept money from the China. Congress should be united in protecting the United States from China’s threat to our national security, economy, and way of life.
