Having a choice is always a great thing in a quest to make you pay attention and help facilitate a feeling of stakes in a quest! -The Rueful Axe -20-30 Points of Stamina Damage - The Masque of Clavicus Vile -Prices are 20% better -+10 to Speechcraft -5% + Magicka Regeneration The difference in quality of enchants and the amount do enough to tell you which one to pick! However you have to take a gamble on the masque because you don't know what "reward" you will get if you give the axe back! (If it is the first time you are doing this quest) This is an amazing quest lore wise and a great quest to listen to every bit of dialogue to grab all of the lore you can!
