Nikon Coolpix L340 on Hornby Layout filmed with a flip camera
This video shows footage of our Hornby layout taken with a flip camera and compares it with video taken with a Nikon Coolpix L340. Unboxing of Nikon Coolpix L340 purchased to-day from Argos 418/7022. It cost £89.99 This includes batteries, but no SD card. Sandisk Extreme SDHC UHS-1 HD video card 377/9510 cost £12.99 at Argos bringing the total price to £101.68. This camera is quite small and handy for taking layout photos and videos which is why I got it and am featuring it here. Good points: 4x AA batteries included. Takes standard AA batteries either ordinary or rechargeable. Rechargeable batteries can be recharged in the camera using MH-73 optional extra charger. You don't need this if you already have a charger which takes AA batteries. No installation CD in the box - picture transfer software (about 100 mb) has to be downloaded. There is no charge for this software. As this video shows, a printed manual is included. This covers basic setup and opertation. A more detailed manual is available online. Drawbacks: No camera case in the box. No wi-fi so no automatic uploading. No GPS. Pictures have to be transferred to computer by cable or by swapping out the SD card.
