Apple Magic Keyboard Unboxing. This is the new Apple magic keyboard model A1644 which comes with a lightning charging cable as opposed to the pervious versions that were operated with 2 AA batteries. The Apple Magic Keyboard includes the new slim aluminum frame body which lays flat on any surface. If you're used to having your keyboard propped up with legs then you're going to be uncomfortable at first with this magic keyboard. The internal documentation included in the box suggests updating your Mac to OS X version 10.11 or later to take advantage of the full range of features of the new Apple Magic Keyboard. This Apple Magic Keyboard Model A1644 has a rechargeable battery built right into the device and operates via Bluetooth technology similarly to the previous model. To check the battery life of the keyboard simply plug the Lightning cable to the Lightning port on the top of the device, then plug the USB side of the cable into your Mac or USB power adapter (wall charger brick). When plugged into your Mac, follow these instructions to check the battery life: Apple Menu - System Preferences - Keyboard The battery level will be shown in the lower left hand corner. The keyboard can easily be paired with your Mac via the bluetooth settings and you can fully customize the Apple Magic Keyboard's modifier keys to assign shortcuts to the menu commands in various OS X apps.
