2023 Dignity Workshop 02.1: Michael Britton's Don Klein Celebration Lecture

In the midst of great suffering all around the world, the 2023 Workshop on Transforming Humiliation and Violent Conflict was titled "The Urgency of Seeding Dignity: Honoring 20 Years of Global Collaboration for Transforming Suffering Through Courageous and Compassionate Action". This workshop was a hybrid workshop, convened online and in person on December 8, 2023. It was the 20th Annual Workshop co-hosted by Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Teachers College, Columbia University. The first workshop took place in 2003, convened by Morton Deutsch. This is Michael Britton's Don Klein Celebration Lecture titled "Carriers of Hope" delivered on December 8, 2023, edited by Linda Hartling (he pre-recorded it on December 6, 2023, https://youtu.be/zhAzoY46Wf4). Until he passed away in 2007, Don Klein held each year a lecture titled "The Humiliation Dynamic: Looking Back... Looking Forward." Since 2007, Michael Britton holds the Don Klein Celebration Lecture each year. In his work, Michael Britton is concerned with integrative thinking across neuroscience, in-depth psychotherapies and historical/cultural living, he looks at how participation in the historical life of our times and interior life are deeply intertwined.
