Tirade: Relationships
There's something that seems to consistently come up in the spiritual community, which is relationships. As soon as you get on the spiritual path, you are going to be in a unique position, because it's another area of your life that you are trying to upgrade. Are we even allowed to date on the spiritual path? The idea is that our outside life is supposed to reflect our inside life. So don't go looking for a better person to date, become a better person yourself. This is an inside job! With respect to online dating - if you're going to get involved with anybody that you've never met...let it be God! I'm just saying, when you don't take the time to grow a relationship organically and authentically, you increase the odds of trouble. Every year, get rid of the old wounds and hurts that are sabotaging your new relationships. And if you are in between relationships, thank the Gods of Atlantis, because you are gifted with time to fast and clear out the old, so you don't keep repeating the old patterns. Be in love with yourself. Have a wondrously monogamous relationship with yourself. If you're going to get in to a relationship, however, there are a few common sense things to look for. The relationship should add to your life, not subtract. Bring your lessons from past relationships to piece together a healthy new relationship. This is "going vertical," instead of horizontal - just choosing another person at the same level. Try learning about yourself as much as possible. Never settle!
