Penetron projects: Rogun hydropower plant
On September 9, 2019, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, launched the second unit of the Rogun hydropower plant. This is the largest hydropower plant in the region, and its 335-meter dam is the highest in the world. The construction of the plant began in Soviet times, when the first spillway tunnels were built. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, construction works were frozen. They were resumed recently. The Penetron crystalline waterproofing system was used to restore giant spillway tunnels. The first unit began to generate energy in 2018. Soon, the Rogun hydroelectric power station will provide energy to all of Tajikistan and even neighboring states.
