BMW M4 GTS (500hp) Review
The BMW M4 GTS is currently the fastest representative of a whole series of extreme BMW M special models such as the BMW M3 GT (1994), the BMW M3 CSL (2003) and its direct predecessor, the BMW M3 GTS (2009). Once again, it takes the BMW M philosophy to the top: marrying exceptional performance with maximum race track performance, combined in a vehicle that can be driven on public roads. A considerable proportion of the overall performance of the BMW M4 GTS – as should be the case with a BMW M – is down to its engine. The award-winning inline 6-cylinder 3.0-litre turbo engine from the BMW M3 and BMW M4 receives its ultimate refinement in the GTS. Not only have the engine characteristics and response behaviour been optimised – but its use of an innovative water injection system gives the engine a significant performance boost. With 500 hp and a maximum torque of 600 Nm, the BMW M4 GTS can reach 100 km/h in an impressive 3.8 seconds. To get as close as possible to the power to weight ratio of a racing car, the BMW M4 GTS has a large number of carbon elements. The bonnet, boot lid, roof, rear diffuser, adjustable front splitter and adjustable rear wing are made of this particularly lightweight high-tech material. The highlight in the engine compartment is the carbon precision strut, which reinforces the entire front end of the vehicle and thus significantly improves steering precision.
