R-Type Final - Ship Showcase - Stage 6.1 with Arvanche - R-Typer Difficulty
This is stage 6.1 - Beautiful Erasure - with the Arvanche on R-Typer difficulty. Played on Score Attack. About this ship: This is obviously a Bydo style ship. According to the R-Museum it was used to to test the viability of using Bydo skin in combat. All of the weapons fire scale shaped lasers. The red weapon shoots a rapid fire horizontal beam. The blue weapon fires a wide spread of bullets that gives excellent coverage, but doesn't fire exceptionally fast. The yellow weapon fires out spears of yellow scales that stick in the terrain. When the Scale Force is detached, it fires in the Standard Force R-Type pattern. The wave cannon is a two loop charge that will fire about three quarters of the screen before exploding into a counterclockwise shower of bullets. Damage is potentially more if you strike the target with the initial part of the blast, before it explodes. Pros: + The blue weapon gives wide angles of coverage at the cost of not being overpowered and not firing really fast. + The yellow weapon fires out spears of scales that stick in the terrain, which will do damage on contact with the enemy. It fires quickly. + The wave cannon blast explodes into a shower of bullets, adding more damage. Cons: - The ship's shape can throw you off. The tail part of the ship that makes Arvanche so tall is not part of the hitbox. The hitbox begins at the cockpit to the back of the ship. Ships in this series: Arvanche, Claw Claw Stage note: The boss is Nomemayer, and upon killing it, your ship turns into a Bydo. Most ships turn into Bydo System Alpha, but some Bydo style ships become the Metallic Dawn. I expected Arvanche would turn into the Metallic Dawn, but oddly enough this was not the case. Also, this recording was where I finally wised up and began putting the Force on the back of the ship instead of the front, so I could destroy the rocks behind me. Personal note: I tend not to favor the Bydo style ships, but I really like this one. The weapons and the wave cannon are excellent, even they're not super powered. Plus it has the pure Bydo look to it, which is really cool. Playlist for R-Type Final Ship Showcase: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLABDCBCD1D46B8435
