Difference between Column & Strut

This video shows the difference between column and strut in detail.Some of the differences are, Column is a compression member in frame structure while strut is the compression member in truss. Column takes axial load, bending moment, shear force, buckling load etc, while strut only take axial load and that axial load is only compressive load. Column takes gravity load while strut dont take gravity load Loads are applied anywhere throughout the length of the column, while load is only applied at the joint of the strut.
