Early 60's? Subaru 360 "Sambar" 4 door mini-mini van

I have never seen a vehicle like this before! Notice that Subaru produced a rear engine, rear drive car before they went to the front engine layout. They started with 2 cylinder 2 stroke, air cooled engines. This vehicle I'm sure predates Malcom Bricklin's involvement with the importation of Subarus in the U.S. Note, however, that the speedometer is in mph and the car is left hand drive, so it was made for export. Another interesting feature are the front suicide doors, hinged at the pillar between front and rear doors. It appears that the rear engine is air cooled..and indeed, the overall appearance seems quite like a scaled down VW Microbus. You just never know what you will find at the local car show! Also note the "hippie" decoration popular in the 60's.
