#377 Restoring An Old Steinway Piano- Teflon Knuckle Lube and Soundtest
This channel provides an in-depth look at how you can restore an older 1883 Steinway Model A Grand Piano, from the first steps selecting your piano to all the work you'll likely need to do successfully. This video #377 shows reshaping of Steinway B hammers/hammerfelts with a Dremel. A decision was made to replace the original Model A Hammershafts with Hammerfelts as I had a good condition used set of B's. To get the weight of the slightly heftier B's down, the felts were reshaped, using the A as a template. Worked very well and low low cost. Be patient, because good results take time. Done well, your Steinway restoration will go well. I suggest you use only Steinway parts, many of which are available from Howard Piano Industries.
