A journey through South Tyrol sheds some light on the formidable dynamism of the genius, as do the people who live in this territory, bound to tradition and yet changing. Genius Loci is an anthropological and poetic investigation into this mysterious entity which represents the quintessence of a place. We asked a number of people to talk about the genius loci. Paul Roesch evokes impassable paths between nature and culture. In Daniele Barina's view, the spirit of place is lost. Ursula Tavella, on the other hand, speaks of an exceptional energy. Gianni Bodini is fascinated by place names. Moidi Paregger sees the spirit in the Wild Woman. According to Walter Angonese it is a "context" that we must hear and observe... Everyone, thus, speaks their mind, offering intuitions, rather than definitions.
