DEEP SEA FOSSIL FOUND AT 4000 METER ABOVE PRESENT SEA LEVEL IN HIMALAYA (SPITI, HIMACHAL PRADESH )
Deep Tethys sea marine life evidence ( marks left by fins of deep sea fish on sediments) called 'Zoophycus' preserved as fossils in rocks of about 250 Million Years Ago, now exposed at around 4000 meters above the present sea level in Upper Pin Valley, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. This fossil evidence indicates great upliftment of Tethys marine sediments during the collision of Indian Plate with Asian Plate. The uplifted sediments of Tethys sea form the 'Higher Himalaya'. HIMALAYA IS IN INDIAN PLATE. I visited this area in Pin valley, Himachal Pradesh with Hemant Kumar, Ramesh Leishram and Ravi S. Chaubey, Geologists of Geological Survey of India and took this video.
