I'm Going To Climb Mount Everest.

Support me as an independent creator: https://patreon.com/FrankMenken I've spent the past year proving to myself that if I set a goal that's hard enough, and out there enough, I can achieve anything that I put my mind to. After I completed my goal of uploading a daily vlog every day for a year, it was time to move onto the next thing. And what's the most logical next step for someone whose just completed the most difficult achievement of their life? Climbing Mount Everest of course. So that's what I'm going to do. Find Zach White Here: https://www.instagram.com/zachoneverest/ on https://instagram.com/thefrankmenken on https://twitter.com/thefrankmenken That title’s not clickbait. Let me get you up to speed. Hi, my name is Frank Menken, and over the past 365 days I created a daily vlog in an effort to prove to myself that, if I put my mind to it, I could accomplish an absurdly difficult goal that seemed totally impossible. It was easily the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my life. But all of a sudden it was over. So what do I do now? When I finished I immediately started looking for my next goal. Something so out there, so massive that I couldn’t even fully grasp the scope of what I was looking at. Something even harder. As I was lying on the couch scrolling through Instagram Reels, feeling lost and unsure of what to do next, I stumbled across this reel by Zach White. I thought to myself: “5 years? If he can do it in 5 years, then surely I can do that too…” To rewind a little bit further: I’ve always been generally fairly athletic, but never anything special. I played soccer and tennis as a kid, then had a short stint in the parkour world in early middle school and finished off my teens at a prestigious dance school. I’ve always liked exercise, but I’ve never been one to actively seek out time in the gym when it wasn’t specifically ‘fun’. It wasn’t until my late teens and early 20’s that climbing and endurance training started coming into play. I slowly dipped my toes into the world of climbing, running and multi-day trekking and before I knew it, I was hooked. All that to say: I’m just an average dude. I’ve never run a marathon, I’m not naturally gifted at sport, I’m just stubborn as all hell. And when I’ve made my mind up, there’s no going back. So I’m going to summit Everest. But is that even achievable? Can I, as a notably regular guy, really do something that is regarded by so many as the pinnacle of human achievement? And I’m going to take you along for the entire ride. From training my body and mind, to actually completing these ascents on some of the hardest physical terrains on the planet. So here’s what’s going to happen from this point on: Two movies a week starting from today, one training and nutrition vlog cataloguing one week at a time, and one hyper-specific training movie each week. These can range from food challenges (like moving to an entirely vegan diet) all the way to learning specific alpine skills (like ice climbing). This whole journey is all about sharing the joys of nature and the outside world with you, and to see if I, a totally normal dude with no special athletic ability, can even get to the point of completing one of the hardest physical feats humanly possible. I’m entirely self funded, meaning the more I can dedicated myself to this goal and this channel, the sooner we’ll hit these goals, and the sooner I can take you up to the summit of Everest with me. If you like my movies, and want to see a type of content that no-one has ever done on this platform before: please think about becoming a Patreon subscriber. $5 a month for a bunch of behind the scenes content and things I can’t post on YouTube, and most importantly: it allows for me to focus full time on creating better, higher quality content for you. (And also it gives me the warm and fuzzies inside) I can’t wait for this next chapter, and I’m so stoked to be able to take you with me. Everything until now has just been the prologue, now lets start the real story. The timer for Everest starts now.
